Plant-parasitic nematodes in the rangelands and forests of Kerman province, Iran, were studied in 213 rhizosphere soil samples collected from various plants during 2019-2023. nine species belonging to the family Hoplolaimidae were identified,including Hoplolaimus indicus, Rotylenchus glabratus, Helicotylenchus minzi, H. exallus, H. vulgaris, H. digonicus, H. pseudorobustus, H. digitiformis and H. abunaamai. Hoplolaimus indicus and R. glabratus were each detected in a single sample, collected from oregano and reed, respectively, in southern Kerman. Among the species of the genus Helicotylenchus, H. exallus (5.6%; 12 samples, associated with pine, meadow grass, Cynodon dactylon, reed, oregano, licorice, tamarix, horsetail and poplar) and H. minzi (5.1%; 11 samples, associated with meadow grass, reed, spiny rush, Cynodon dactylon, Phalaris and oregano) were the most frequent. H. vulgaris was found in five samples from the rhizosphere of poplar, autumn crocus, Poa annua and meadow grass, while H. digonicus was detected in five samples of associated with artemisia and meadow grass, (each representing 2.4% of samples). In addition, H. pseudorobustus was found in four samples (1.9%) from the rhizosphere of willow and meadow grass. H. digitiformis and H. abunaamai are reported here for the first time from Kerman province, each recovered from a single sample associated with pine and spiny rush, respectively. The results indicated that the diversity of Helicotylenchus species is higher in the northern and mountainous regions of the province.The species H. abunaamai, H. digitiformis, H. indicus and R. glabratus are reported here for the first time from rangeland plants in Iran.
